THE BILL DUKE WAY

Famous Actor, Producer & Director Bill Duke came back to his hometown for a visit with honors. The Goodie Drop had the privilege of attending the unveiling of a new street sign, named after Poughkeepsie Native and living legend Bill Duke!

DUKE was born right here in Poughkeepsie, went to Ebenezer Baptist Church, attended Dutchess Community College before going to NYU's Tisch School of the Arts! You can see his work on the big screen with films he directed like Sister Act 2, or Rage in Harlem or catch him in front of the camera in movies like Predator and X-Men.

The inspiration for this street naming event was a combination of local residents and organizations and officials who have wanted to honor the Poughkeepsie home actor who continues to come and give back to the Hudson Valley.
